Dr. Shohag Chakrabarty, a distinguished figure in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, was born on July 11, 1987, in Barura, Cumilla. Raised in an academic household by his father, Rabindra Chakrabarty, a retired bank officer, and his mother, Jharna Rani Chakraborty, a dedicated school teacher, he was instilled with a strong commitment to education and service from a young age.

Dr. Chakrabarty's academic journey began at Cumilla Zilla School, where he completed his SSC in 2002, followed by HSC from Cumilla Victoria Government College in 2004. He earned his MBBS from Cumilla Medical College in 2011 and subsequently achieved FCPS in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from BCPS in 2021. His expertise is further broadened by certifications in Diabetes Management from BIRDEM & Yale University, MSK Ultrasound Diagnosis and Intervention, Spasticity Management, Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation, among others. He has also undertaken extensive international training, including a FIPM (India), the EULAR Course on Rheumatological Diseases (Switzerland), Pediatric Rehabilitation (Enablement Netherlands), and has completed a Pulmonary Rehab Fellowship (South Korea). 

Since 2014, Dr. Chakrabarty has served the Government of Bangladesh as BCS Cadre Officer, holding positions at various prominent health institutions. Currently, he is the Consultant and Head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at General Hospital, Cumilla, a department he pioneered to provide modern rehabilitative services to the region's underserved population. He actively works for the rehabilitation and inclusion of people with disabilities. He was also awarded the National Integrity Award 2024-25 from General Hospital, Cumilla.

A dedicated educator and researcher, Dr. Chakrabarty has authored ten scientific publications and maintains active involvement in various medical organizations. He is a life member of BCPS, BMA, BSPMR, and Neelavra Foundation, and a member of prestigious international bodies such as the AAP, ASPN, ISPRM, ACP (USA and Bangladesh Chapter), the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and the American Society of Regenerative Medicine. He also plays a crucial role as Organizing Secretary for BSPMR and Coordinator for the BCS Health Cadre Specialists Forum. Furthermore, his commitment to inclusive development is evident through his roles as a Founder Member of Enabled Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Pediatric Rehabilitation Study Group, as well as an advisor to SANDHANI, Comilla Medical College Unit.

Dr. Chakrabarty's long-standing dedication to community service is reflected in his nearly two decades of continuous Rotary involvement. Starting with the Rotaract Club of Comilla Medical College in 2005, where he served as President from 2009–10, he later became a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Comilla Victoria, serving as Secretary and Vice President. Now he is the President of this club for the Rotary Year 2025-26. His contributions have significantly impacted health-related community programs and youth leadership initiatives.

Dr. Shohag Chakrabarty's career is a testament to his visionary leadership in rehabilitation medicine, unwavering commitment to public service, and profound humanitarian values, establishing him as a dedicated changemaker and a proud son of Cumilla.
